Welcome from the President

Picture
Welcome to our website. As the president of the Arlington Branch of the NAACP,  my pledge to you is to carry forward the rich and powerful legacy of this great civil rights organization.

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, 2020 changed the lives of each and every American. The Arlington Branch has been busy learning as much as we can about the effects of coronavirus and its effects on the physical, mental and economic health of our family members, neighbors and friends.  There are many ways in which we can serve our community, particularly those less fortunate than others during this unprecedented time in our country.

Even though we are laser focused on ensuring the protections and rights of communities of color and other marginalized people, we continue to focus on growing our membership --- because there is power in numbers --- and because without you our mission for service and equality is impossible.

A special thanks to the Arlington community and all who serve this great city. We need you at the table with the Arlington Branch of the NAACP. We need your support. We value your input.

The Executive Board and NAACP Branch membership are focusing on these goals:
  • Fearlessly advocating for the protection of civil rights
  • Being responsive to your inquiries and requests for assistance
  • Providing more value-driven programming for our membership
  • Successfully launching and maintaining effective communication so that we serve as a valuable resource on issues that are relevant and current
  • Increasing our Chapter’s overall exposure to potential new members and businesses
  • Building upon our signature programs
  • Forging new community partnerships

I look forward to greeting you at our monthly branch meetings, which due to Covid-19, are being held online until further notice. I encourage you to join us on our journey toward equality and justice for all who have chosen Arlington as their home.

Alisa Simmons
