Statement Body
The Arlington NAACP expressed disappointment over the continued display of the statue, noting that the sculpture is widely understood to be modeled after Jay Banks, whose actions during the Civil Rights era are viewed by many residents as harmful to the advancement of civil rights and educational progress.
The branch also emphasized that the issue is not merely historical but connected to the present, as Globe Life Field sits within the Arlington–Mansfield community and near schools and families served by Mansfield ISD.
The organization encouraged constructive dialogue with the Texas Rangers and community stakeholders about how public monuments reflect the values of a diverse and growing city.
